This policy explains how Davanci Group B.V. (KvK 65307941), Beethovenstraat 72-3, 1077 JM Amsterdam, the Netherlands, operator of MeetLocals.nl (“we”, “us”) handles your personal data when you use our website and apps. We are the controller of your data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Contact: support@meetlocals.nl.

1. What data we collect

• Account data: username, email address, password (stored encrypted), date of birth and gender.
• Profile data: photos, description, location (city), interests and anything else you choose to add. Your profile is visible to other members.
• Messages you send and receive through the Service.
• Payment data: if you buy a subscription, the payment is handled by our payment providers (such as PayPal or Stripe). We receive confirmation of the payment, not your full card details.
• Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, login times and cookies (see section 7).

Information you choose to add to your profile may reveal sensitive details, such as your sexual orientation. By adding it, you explicitly consent to us processing it for the purpose of showing it on your profile. You can remove it at any time.

2. Why we use your data

• To provide the Service: create your account, show your profile, suggest matches and deliver messages (performance of our contract with you).
• To process payments for subscriptions (contract and legal obligations).
• To keep the Service safe: prevent fraud, spam and fake profiles, enforce our terms and handle reports (legitimate interest).
• To send service emails such as notifications and password resets, and – only with your consent – newsletters.
• To comply with legal obligations, such as tax rules and requests from authorities.

3. Who we share data with

We never sell your data. We share it only with: other members (your profile, as you set it up); service providers that host the site, send emails, process payments or provide analytics, under data processing agreements; and authorities when the law requires it. Where data is transferred outside the EU, we use appropriate safeguards such as the EU standard contractual clauses.

4. How long we keep data

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile is removed immediately and other data is deleted within 90 days, except where we must keep it longer by law (for example payment records, which are kept for 7 years under Dutch tax law).

5. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to object to or restrict its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email support@meetlocals.nl and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the authority in your own country.

6. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and encrypted passwords.

7. Cookies

We use necessary cookies to keep you logged in and to make the site work. With your consent we also use analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. You can change your cookie choices at any time in your browser.

8. Minors

The Service is only for people aged 18 and over. We delete accounts of anyone we find to be under 18.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. Significant changes will be announced on the site or by email.
